I’m a Wikipedian who also suffers from serious depression. As I posted in reply to Jake Orlowitz’s piece, people really need to take the mindset and well-being of other editors seriously. People whose mental health is compromised can indeed sometimes take legitimate criticism too seriously, but too often editing disputes go beyond constructive discussion to personal attacks. Addressing harassment is not about censorship of “free speech”; written words have real-life consequences.
