Your post got me thinking. One of the hobbies I used to enjoy was geocaching, which also involves walking around, sometimes in circles, trying to find something hidden, while looking at a hand-held device. This was before my transition to male, and I fortunately never had the police called on me for it. Now I wonder if I were to return to that activity, once I am more routinely (and correctly) gendered as male, if I’d be seen as a dangerous thug in my increasingly-gentrified city of San Francisco — or anywhere else I might visit in the USA.

(Black women — especially trans women — get disproportionately hassled and killed by the police too. I don’t want to ever forget or shortchange my oppressed sisters.)
