In a shocking revelation that has sent ripples through the legal corridors of Kenya, Brian Mwendwa Njagi, who purported to be a seasoned lawyer, has been exposed as an imposter, raising concerns about the security of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Portal and the potential for identity theft within the legal profession.
Brian Mwendwa, known for handling high-profile cases, has found himself in the eye of a storm after reports surfaced online, revealing that he lacks the necessary credentials to be verified by the Law Society of Kenya (LSK). Despite being labeled a “fake lawyer” by netizens, notable figures such as Mike Sonko and COTU chairman Francis Atwoli have come to his defense.

The controversy reached its zenith when LSK, particularly its Nairobi branch, issued a statement cautioning the public about Brian Mwenda Njagi. According to LSK, he is neither an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya nor a member of the society. In response, LSK Nairobi Branch urged anyone with information about Mwenda or any other person impersonating an advocate to report it to the relevant authorities.
Eric Theuri, the President of LSK, confirmed that Brian Mwenda Njagi is not an advocate and announced that they have sought the intervention of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to apprehend him. “We have invited the DCI to track this person and arrest him for impersonation,” said Theuri.
Prominent lawyer Omwanza Ombati shed light on Brian Mwenda’s audacious impersonation, revealing that Mwenda managed to use his image as the profile picture on an account belonging to another advocate who shares a similar name. Ombati also expressed concerns about potential data breaches within the LSK Portal.
