In a shocking turn of events, the Fantasy Dome, a 20,000-seater capacity venue owned by Leslie Quaynor, CEO of Fantasy Entertainment, was demolished by the Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited despite an existing injunction. Detailing the sequence of events leading to the demolition, Mr. Quaynor expressed his astonishment in an interview with JoyNews. He revealed that the lease for the Fantasy Dome had expired, and efforts were underway to relocate the massive structure to another venue. However, despite being in the final stages of negotiating a lease extension with the University of Ghana, Legon, the Trade Fair management declined to grant an extension and proceeded with the demolition.

Despite Mr. Quaynor’s efforts to secure a writ and an injunction from the Accra High Court to halt any demolition activities, the Trade Fair management proceeded with the destruction. Mr. Quaynor explained that they had even resorted to serving the writ through substituted services after initial attempts to serve the Trade Fair management failed.

Expressing his dismay, Mr. Quaynor emphasized the rule of law, stating, “Ghana is a country of laws, you cannot destroy anyone’s property without a court order.” He questioned the legitimacy of using National Security as a guise to carry out the demolition, highlighting the need for a legal resolution to such disputes.

The Fantasy Dome CEO, who invested a substantial amount of $5 million in the establishment of the facility, revealed that the sudden destruction has dealt a significant blow to him as a businessman and to the entertainment industry as a whole. He stressed the importance of venues like the Fantasy Dome in fostering the growth of the entertainment sector.

Following the demolition, Mr. Quaynor has vowed to pursue legal action against the Trade Fair Company. He condemned the use of force over legal recourse and called for accountability in handling such matters.

In response to the incident, Mr. Quaynor reported the matter to the La Police, who assured him of an investigation. Additionally, he reiterated his intent to pursue the issue in court to seek justice for the unlawful demolition of the Fantasy Dome.

The Fantasy Dome, which has been a cornerstone venue for various events over the past five years, including the prestigious 3Music Awards and mega church gatherings, now stands as a symbol of controversy and legal dispute. As Mr. Quaynor prepares to take on the Trade Fair Company in court, the aftermath of the demolition serves as a stark reminder of the complexities surrounding property rights and legal recourse in Ghana’s business landscape.
