The first porn movie was recorded in 1896 and its name is Bedtime for the Bride. The move lasted around seven minutes. It was directed by Albert Kirschner, produced by Eugène Pirou and starred French actress Louise Willy.

What Was the First Porn Movie?

The plot takes place in the bedroom where the groom and the bride are preparing for their first wedding night. The husband is thrilled while the wife is simpering. She then asks him to withdraw while she undresses. The husband puts the folding screen between them. She slowly removes many layers of clothes, one by one. But she never gets fully naked and the breasts are the peak of nudity. During that time, the impatient husband is reading newspapers, peeking above the screen, or mopping.

Sadly, only two minutes of the movie survived. The above-described undressing sequence is included in that time. There is no way to establish if intercourse ensued or not. All we know for sure is that there is a striptease in which breasts are revealed.

The movie was shot in a theatre set. It was the adaptation of a theatre show that was very popular at the Olympia Theater in Paris. The same cast participated in the making of the movie. However, in theatre, the actress would never reveal her breasts, let alone something else. The show had a form of pantomime.
