Bringing Wolfram Language (to) Bit By Bit
Bit By Bit is an Internet of Things platform that makes it easy for anyone to learn basic electronics and how to design their own IoTs in a matter of minutes. Bit By Bit not only makes it simple to design IoTs but it also comes with immense computational powers. Bit By Bit comes bundled with Wolfram Language, which with its device framework, ability to handle real-world data, built-in distributed computing, and both cloud and embedded implementations is in a unique position to support the Internet of Things.
For the uninitiated, Wolfram Language is what powers the computational software suite Mathematica and the computational knowledge service Wolfram|Alpha, a search engine for all your computation queries. All three are the brainchild of Stephen Wolfram, a computer scientist, entrepreneur and former physicist, known for his contributions to theoretical physics, his pioneering work on knowledge-based programming and as the CEO of Wolfram Research.
Here I will show you how to get up and running using Wolfram Language on Bit By Bit.
Single click app-install
We pride ourselves on our simplicity. The single-click app interface works in the same way across all platforms, including fun-apps designed in C / C++ / Python and Wolfram Language. This helps us provide a consistent user experience.

How to create an app (using Wolfram Language)
Wolfram Language provides immense computation powers to Bit By Bit and so we created a custom approach to using it to create apps.
Visual programming: For newbies we have created a visual platform to create simple fun-apps. It supports the most common Wolfram Language commands, including access camera, among others. The best thing is that with a single click users can see the final Wolfram Language code that they designed.
Advanced programming: For experts in Wolfram Language, we provide a simple way to create various apps in which the user can make their code available for others to play with. This is an easy way to share your Wolfram Language creativity with the rest of the world.
You can check out how to use both of these approaches to design apps in minutes here:
Make your own image filter based fun-apps in minutes!
Wolfram Language supports various image filters and can be used to design your own Instagram-style apps. This type of fun-app was used to apply instant filters to images uploaded as links to Bit By Bit or taken from camera connected to B3. Here are some of the filters applied to a few images:
In the coming days we will keep posting various tutorials on how to design various Internet of Things and basic electronics modules using Wolfram Language on Bit By Bit.
