Africa Game Developers community continues to grow from strength to strength impacting game developers a meetup at a time with talks and workshops! :-)

The community was excited to cross it’s 6 month milestone by having a Unity Workshop focused on developing using Unity Web GL. The session hosted at the iHub was run by both local and international experts who have been using the technology in their individual projects and now working for Internet of Elephants voted as, 2018 Fast Company Top 10 Innovative company. …

We were delighted to host Gautam Shah, Founder of Internet of Elephants for our April monthly meetup which was hosted at The Twig. Gautam shared on their kickstarter campaign and what led for it to be successful.

Internet of Elephants is a one of a kind startup that develops games and digital products for the benefit of wildlife conservation. Using the real data gathered from the tracking devices of our conservation partners and bringing in cutting edge augmented reality, our team of technologists and conservationists aim to tell stories of structure in a never seen before way that brings wildlife into the daily lives of the public.

Demo days are a great opportunity / way to showcase what one is working on to potential collaborators, clients and fellow community members to receive feedback on areas you can improve on and provide better insights.

The Nairobi game developers community (a chapter of the Africa Game Developers) is a monthly meetup that meets every second Saturday of the month to Connect, Network and learn from each other. We hold talks, workshops and now demo days to catalyze the communities growth consisting of 50+ members. The meetup is convened by Fuse Catalysts in collaboration with NexGen.

We switched our monthly meetup and held a demo day where 2 members of the community shared the game’s they’re currently building, the journey itself as well as provided a walk-through of the game and what players will find exciting about it. …

The East Africa Gaming Convention — (EAGC) aims to meet the needs of gaming enthusiasts in the region. This gaming & technology convention aims at meeting with interactive entertainment developers, publishers, distributors, service providers, platform providers, localization providers and game developers, payment providers, multimedia, telecom operators, investors, government officials, and retailers in the region.

In the just concluded 2nd edition — In collaboration with NexGen and the able support of Liquid Telecom — we enabled local Game Developers to be able to showcase their published games to a wider audience and in turn drive more downloads and engagement of their content. …

The success of any venture is evaluated on the basis of it’s revenue performance and ability to find a successful (& sustainable) business model suited for it’s sector and industry. The gaming industry, particularly in Africa is still in its nascent stages and game developers are still exploring avenues and partnerships that can enable them scale quickly as well as monetize on their game(s) and content.

January 13th was the start of a new chapter in East & Central Africa for the Game developers community.
