We are so excited that a friend of the organization, and local Spokane artist, Lorna Doone Brewer has designed this unique piece for us in support of STEAM! This awesome design is packed with STEAM images and symbols including a couple fun Easter Eggs for folks to find. What’s an “Easter Egg”, you ask? It’s a secret or hidden message buried within the design. How fun is that?

Our organization vehemently denounces racism and discrimination. The values we work to promote and advocate for are rooted in intersectionality, diversity, and inclusion for all people. Now more than ever, none of us can remain silent when injustice is happening. We must all stand up against racist behavior and discriminatory acts.

We are angered and saddened by the recent events leading to the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and too many others. Yet, we are also inspired by how the spark from these events has grown over these last couple weeks with so many individuals and organizations stepping up in support. We are hopeful that real, long-term positive change will flow out of these current protests. …

Hello beautiful world! We are Future Ada — a Spokane, Washington based 501(c)3 non-profit. We are named after Ada Lovelace, an English mathematician and writer, chiefly known for her work on Charles Babbage’s proposed mechanical general-purpose computer. She is considered to have written the first ever computer program in the mid-1800s. We find her story incredibly inspiring and our hope is to inspire and support the current and future Ada Lovelaces of the world!

Securing space for women and non-binary individuals in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) is our primary mission. Our overall vision is to have fully diverse and inclusive STEAM fields. We work toward this goal via support and advocacy for women and non-binaries of all ages and at all levels of their career or academic studies. Between trainings, workshops, mentorship, and community education we can help ensure we have the pipeline full up front with the next generation coming into STEAM and that those on their career path feel supported enough to stay. …
