It’s a comedy show. The interviews are almost always, and almost always have been, fluff. Including under Stewart. Instead of dropping condescending bile on Noah for doing his job in the general case, which is to be funny — and at which he is damned good, frankly — be glad that this particular interview was extended a little bit, and driven fairly seriously (yeah, he was still funny.) Are you that funny? Reading your Medium work, you sure don’t seem funny. Oh, wait — that’s not your job. Huh! My bad.
Lahren is a compendium of all that is wrong with extreme-rightist thinking. If you want to be generous and call it thinking. Any sane person who watches that interview comes away understanding that the comedian made an honest attempt to address the crazy person, and the crazy person… was crazy.
The place for serious discourse and tilting at ideas — or windmills — isn’t generally a comedy show. Lovely to see that disrupted, particularly in this case, where the subject was a dangerous loon. But hardly a cause to go after the comedian for not doing it 100% of the time.
Yeah, white guy here. Big fan of Trevor Noah, in case you can’t tell.
