A warning from Bill Gates, Elon Musk, and Stephen Hawking

Personally, I think (and I’m sure anyone else that has been following the industry) that this is going to be one of the defining issues of our time. The unfortunate thing is that based on past events, humans are inherently greedy, and those in positions of power follow the path leading to the most profit (leading to industrial revolution, climate change, exorbitant medication prices, etc. etc.).

I believe we have one saving grace and invaluable tool to combat the stifling of the less fortunate: the Internet. Never before has it been so easy to research information and communicate on a mass scale. So it’s encouraging to see posts like this. This is a very serious issue that we’re going to face in a very short amount of time, especially compared to the time frame of passing and implementing (and we should also be testing) policies such as UBI. We simply need to raise awareness of issues such as automation, and the more that people post and discuss it, the more likely we are to have a better prepared and balanced future.
