CVS Gone Wrong
When you think of CVS, you automatically wonder how you will make it out with a smile. Everytime I have been to a CVS, I first can never find anything, or find someone to help me find where these items are. It’s nearly impossible to get someone’s help on where a specific item is. It’s almost as if they all hide out in the backroom to avoid shoppers.
The CVS I visited was in Stone Ridge, Va. It’s relatively new and not very big. The traffic varies at different times, and I found that it was busiest the Saturday morning I went. The aisles are difficult to follow because they are kind of scattered. When you first walk in, you’ll see the cashier on the left, and on the right is the pharmacy. The first aisle I noticed immediately was the pet, which seemed odd to me. Normally it would be tucked in the back. It feels as though they just thought of a new store to build in a busy suburb and put sections in random spots. I went in to get a new toothbrush and I walked to the right thinking it would be near the pharmacy, but it actually ended up being in the way back near the make-up. People didn’t really interact with each other unless they were asking where things were since the people who actually worked there were never really around. They seemed irritated because they come in for a specific thing and wanting to leave quickly, but it takes them longer than it should. Checking out is even more of a pain, because once we are all in line, there’s maybe one cashier handling 10–15 people. There’s plenty of other registers, and on a Saturday I feel as though it would be necessary to open more than one.
My conclusion would be to simply try to open up the store a little more/move things around to make it easier for customers to find the items they are looking for.
