Facebook Events App is launched!
The social giant Facebook has once again stepped outside of the flagship app and introduced (currently on IOS) Events. The contained events button in Facebook gave way to this new, robust stand-alone app. The additional features will be the cornerstone of a significant increase in usership.
Let’s take a peek at the latest and greatest in the new app…
First, it will sync all your events that you have on your calendar app inside Events. How smart is that? Now, you won’t have to toggle between calendars to check your availability!
Second big feature includes is the ability to find events that have caught the attention of the user’s friends. It will present recently announced events from Pages they have liked. It will also show updates from the user’s events in which they have previously connected. We all have that friend that is always in ‘the know’ and attend all the great stuff going on around us. Now Facebook Events users can piggyback on those friends’ interests and avoid hunting and pecking to find out things to do around them. And how many times do you frequent your favorite spot to find out they had an event that you missed because you never saw it? It happens to all of us — big bonus to the businesses using Facebook to promote their events — the Events app will help give the event marketing some legs, too.
The third feature is the search capabilities. Not sure what you are looking for or want to do? The new app makes it super easy to peruse recommended events based on interests, time and location. The app features 18 categories such as Food & Drink, Causes, Parties & Nightlife, Shopping, Home & Garden, Family Friendly and Religion & Spirituality to name just a handful.
And finally, for those with future travel plans, the user can look up events in the community they are traveling to and plan their events around their calendar. And remember, the app learns your interests as you use it, so it will present the events that appeal to you and not the ‘Avant-garde Yodeling Sister Act from Burning Man’ when you’re on a romantic city getaway with your significant other!
