Journey to Game Dev

I wrote something a while back, not even sure how long ago that was — wow does time fly. It was an article about game development and how I wanted to build games. That spurt didn’t last long and neither did my mindset.

Not until recently, where I’ve learned more about making games than I ever have in my life. Recently I have had more questions about some of the games I’ve been playing forever.

I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with my life until now. I want to make games. No matter what I might have to go through to get there, no matter what mindset I need to have and no matter what people tell me. I’m not letting anybody stop me in my tracks. More importantly I’m not letting myself stop me in my journey.

The past few days I have been digging deep into what the world of Unity has to offer and the tools that are at my finger tips. There is a wide range of opportunities and possibilities that are soon to come. I’m not that great at math, but the various algorithms used to create games really piqued my interest. C# isn’t a huge problem, since I’ve had some experience with it and many other languages in the past. Hopefully soon I’ll overcome my frustrations, limitations, weaknesses, fears, etc… and make some cool shit.

So, folks, today — this past weekend, really — is when I start my journey to become a game developer. Times are tough now, but I hope to publish posts, demos, tutorials and helpful tips along the way to help whoever else might want to get into the world of game development.
