Life is just a break from darkness, the darkness that every human being may endure.

We keep carrying that darkness through our life, as it is our only companion through this cycle. We were born in it and molded by it.

And the truth is, darkness was always misunderstood. It had and always has been a symbol of evil, an evil to fear. But aren’t we the ones to fear? Didn’t we always fear ourselves and fear others for what we see in our own selves?

We blame darkness for what we truly are, but we enjoy its company because it covers the evil inside of us, because it takes the blame for us, because it protects us from ourselves, from our hatred and our hostility.

From the very first moment you showed up on the world, darkness welcomed you into her arms. Darkness made you notice light. Darkness made you pass through light. Darkness handled you to that light.

But when you first drown in the light, you start crying, denying and missing your old friend. That friend who you thought was your forever companion. And when you do realize its loss, you start looking for it, seeking its help, because… Very bright light may mislead your eyes, very bright light may blur your vision.

You have never found it. But it had always found you.

In times of doubt, in moments of weakness, it is there to catch you. In moments of loneliness, it is there to accompany you. And in times of dazzling light, it stands right next to you, like your invisible shadow. Always keep an eye on you.

The moment you lift your womb, you let go of it, blinded by the sparkling light. You thought you had let it go, but it was always there, never leaving your side, watching out for you, guiding your path and giving meaning to that light …

And when you fall, darkness falls within, covering everything, hiding the terrors of your tomb.

It was the light you cannot see.

Always following you.

From the womb to the tomb.
