That’s actually very interesting, Alejandro. I’d be very keen on knowing more about the technicalities of this initiative. In my previous life, I sketched out a proposal that saw bookshops integrate directly with publishers, releasing “matching” ebooks for each paper sale, in exchange of customer data and tailored discounts. It obviously didn’t work, mainly because the only way to make it work would have been a partnership among publishers first, which is virtually impossible in trade publishing.
This makes the B&M program particularly interesting as a it assumes that several publishers in the same niche got together and worked on a shared interest.
