20) Lower Dens — “To Die In L.A.”

Another wonderful track from Lower Dens. If you are not familiar, definitely check out “Brains.” Critics seems to love them, but I don’t know why they are not talked about more.

19) Beach House — “One Thing”

18) Tyler The Creator — “OKAGA, CA”

Tyler! Who knew you would put out a song like “OKAGA, CA.” Truthfully, The first half of this song is really what gets me. I do love Tyler’s verse, but it’s the setup that is what gets this song to number 18.

17) Joanna Newsom — “Pin Light Bent”

(Sorry, couldn’t find a steam online anywhere!)

16) Hot Chip — “Huarache Lights”

3:48 is a magical moment

15) Hop Along — “The Knock”

I love the way Frances Quinlan uses her voice in this song. It goes everywhere. Sometimes she’s talking, sometimes she’s screaming. You never really know where she is going to go next.

14) Chance The Rapper — “Sunday Candy”

If you haven’t seen the video yet, it’s a must.

13) Girlpool — “Cut Your Bangs”

12) Alex G — “Sarah”

11) Krill — “Phantom”

One of my favorite things about Krill is how important each band member is. “Phantom” is a great example. Each component of the song has their own spotlight and it’s hard to pick out which part really makes Krill who they are. You could say it’s Jonah’s unrelenting voice, Ian’s complex and unbelievably impressive drums, or the massively wide range of sounds Aaron is able to produce from his guitar. Let’s hope Krill comes back soon, in some shape or form.
