We’ve spent the last couple years building a better system for people to exchange stories and ideas. Now we need to get better at telling Medium’s own story in the world.
We’re searching for someone to articulate messaging that captures Medium’s product + core values, and spread that message around the world.
You’ll be working across pretty much every area of Medium.
The Big Picture
We need to be more proactive in both articulating and telling our own story: directly (on Medium, of course!), in the press, at conferences, and in entirely new ways. There will also doubtless be times when we need to respond to stories about us. You’ll be working with the head of marketing, our founder, Ev, as well as others on the executive team and throughout the company.
Feature + Product Launches
with Product Development + Product Marketing
Our product team (organized into different initiatives at the moment) is launching new features all the time. You’ll be working directly with the product team, Product Marketing, and agency partners to get the word out through earned media and any other sources.
with Medium’s Content Team
In the last year we’ve launched multiple publications on Medium (Matter, Cuepoint, Backchannel, and Re-form to name a few), and we’re planning more. These publications will be looking to establish their own messaging, distinct from — but in harmony with — the Medium brand. We need to support these publishing efforts by raising their visibility, working closely with the Medium content team and their contributors.
The role will require that you wear many hats, are adaptable, and willing to do whatever it takes to make things happen (within reason, of course). Experience in a startup environment and tech are helpful for the role.
