October 2019 Recap

October came and went in what seemed like nothing more than a minute. It was a busy month for myself and the team, and we accomplished everything we set out to do. It may have seemed like a blur, however, with everything going on, and, to be fair, you may have missed something that happened. If you did… no worries! This article will quickly go over everything that happened. I now present to you our October 2019 recap.
At the beginning of the month, we had three shows set up for October. One in Gainesville on October 18th, one in Lakeland on October 19th and then one at Soundbar in Orlando on October 27th. Each of the shows were a beautiful experience, and here’s a quick rundown.
Gainesville — October 18th. The Range.
On October 18th, my producer (@beatsbyjimmy), my photographer (@moneymikeproductions) and my girlfriend travelled up to Gainesville for an hour-long set at a venue called The Range. The show was curated by @outsidetheboxfl with several other performing acts coming out — Guff, Oscarr and Jamison Wray.
I had met the people behind @outsidetheboxfl a couple years ago through a mutual friend, and it was awesome to finally be able to collaborate on an event and do one together. The set went excellent, and Jimmy and I were able to show a lot of newer music that we’ve been working on. Some of the stuff we performed at this show isn’t slated to release until about a year from now.
The other performers were excellent, as well, and it was awesome, as always, to get out and network with other artists from around Florida. Jamison Wray had the crowd jumping. Guff, who’s from Saint Petersburg, had actually gone to the University of Florida and it was easy to see that the city was still rocking with his movement. Last but not least, Oscarr brought the performances to a head for the evening with the last set — bringing everybody up on stage with him for his set.
It was only my second performance in Gainesville, but it was the best one by far. Much love to @outsidetheboxfl

Lakeland — October 19th. The Pink Piano.
The day after our Gainesville set, I travelled back to my hometown, Lakeland, FL to do a guitar set at a local spot called The Pink Piano. I’ve only just started incorporating guitar into my live performances, and The Pink Piano is a small venue on the south side of Lakeland that’s offered me spot to perform and perfect my craft.
A good friend of mine, Chris Torres, was hosting a Pop-Punk Prom night and asked me if I wanted to a tribute set for My Chemical Romance. I jumped at the opportunity. Growing up, My Chemical Romance and their magnum opus, The Black Parade, were a huge influence for me musically, and I wanted to pay homage to that influence by performing some of their music.
I picked and rehearsed five songs for my set — I’m Not Okay (I Promise), Dead!, Welcome to the Black Parade, I Don’t Love You and Teenagers. The sent went great, and it was a lot of fun to perform these songs alongside people who’d also grown up listening to My Chemical Romance. If you want to hear some of these covers for yourself — don’t worry because there will be some guitar covers coming soon to my Youtube Channel.

Orlando — October 27th. Soundbar.
October 27th, we made our way up to Orlando for a set at Soundbar at a show hosted by @flawdagrown for artists Kyle Denmead and Cognac & Roses. It was going to be my first set at Soundbar since May at Rosefest, and it felt like it was going to be something special — as Soundbar shows usually are. I could write a book about this venue, to be honest. So many good shows and memories have happened there. We didn’t advertise it beforehand, but this was probably going to be our last Soundbar show for a while.
Once again, the night went great, and we got to showcase some more new music for an audience that had never gotten the chance to hear the music. Hannah Roman came out and helped sing on the first song. The song is already recorded, and it was the first time Jimmy and I had gotten the chance to bring her out to do some harmonies on stage.
We also brought out artists Mave (@mave910) and Skyler White (@skylerxwhite) for a collaboration I’ve got with them that should be coming out in the next few weeks. The song, specifically, will be accompanying the very first Grocery Store Mixtape that we completed in just a few days time this past July. The song is called, “For Me,” and to be completely real, I did not think much of the song until we got the chance to perform it live. Turns out that it’s a banger lmao. Go figure. And I’m not complaining. Sometimes all it takes is performing a song live for some live feedback to get a feel for how good it is.
Me and the Devil — October 31st
On Halloween, we finally released the first song off INFERNO to streaming platforms everywhere — Me and the Devil. We’d been hyping up and promoting the song’s release for a while so it was awesome to finally get it out and show everybody.
As has been stated in previous articles, the song’s meaning and inspiration mostly comes from the infamous Robert Johnson — and the sample from the song itself actually comes from one of his songs. If you are more interested in the backstory behind Johnson’s story, and the song itself then take a look at this article here that I wrote a few weeks ago.
Just yesterday, the Official Music Video for Me and the Devil was released to Zilmusic’s platform on Youtube. The video expounds on the legend of the crossroads and actually gives a visual of me selling my soul to the devil for amazing guitar-playing ability. If that’s something you’re interested in seeing, then look no further than the embedded video link above this section.
What’s to Come…
In only a couple weeks now The Grocery Store is set to drop it’s first official mixtape/album — The Grocery Store Vol. 1. The tape features collaborations from each of The Store’s artists/producers — TheoThoughtless, RAZAtwn, Jimmy, Graffbeatz and Gabrielknowseverything. The mixtape also features collaborations from some of Orlando’s other more well-known artists on the local scene. We holed up in an AirBnB somewhere in Deltona for two days and solely focused on making music while we were there. We ended up creating nearly 10 tracks. But more on that in a later article… But, until then! Stay tuned.
As always,
