I know seat belt extenders exist for airplanes. Do they exist for car seat belts, too? If they do, maybe that would solve the problem. Seat belts in back seats of modern cars are nowhere near long enough. It’s ridiculous. My friends have the same problem in the back seat of my car — they’re grown men of some size, and it’s like the back-seat seatbelts are designed only for child-sized passengers. I don’t think that’s a place where car manufacturers should be skimping to save a little money, but that’s what is going on.

I am batting around the idea of getting an airplane seat belt extender, even though I rarely fly. Sometimes I can get the seat belt to click, sometimes it’s juuuust barely too short. (Speaking of skimping on safety… it’s bad enough that airlines skimp on leg room. They can afford to pay for a few more inches of seat belt webbing per seat, for crying out loud.)

I compare it to the seat belt I had on a tour bus in Italy a few weeks ago. There was so much length, I could’ve fit two other people in it with me. Now that’s what a seat belt should be like! It should have enough length to fit anyone, no questions asked.
