Apple launches its new iPhone lineup every fall, and every season, each new feature looks like it’s a breakthrough. This year’s iPhone delivers better performance, battery life, and connectivity at the same price as last year (thank the good lord). The following are the contents. Here we are proceeding to present you with some unique features of the iPhone 14 which are poised to surprise you (strap in baby):

Display

The iPhone 14 and the larger iPhone 14 Plus are equipped with an Apple Super Retina XDR OLED display with 1200nits peak HDR. Heavy inhale. Brightness! The front glass has a ceramic shield for increased durability (don’t worry, it’ll still break). The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max deliver up to 1600nits of brightness and 2000nits of peak brightness for outdoor use, exceeding Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra by some sort of margin so you can thoroughly ruin your night vision in style.

New 48-megapixel camera

The iPhone 14 Pro is the first iPhone with a 48-megapixel camera. This pixel count is four times the standard iPhone 14 and last year’s iPhone 13 Pro. We gladly welcome iPhone users into the present day.

ProMotion Display

Another feature of the iPhone 14 Pro is the 120Hz refresh-rate display. The ProMotion display first debuted in iPad Pro in 2017, and since then, Apple has expanded the 120Hz display to iPhone, but only to high-end models. The ProMotion display allows users to double the number of smartphone displays to 120Hz. The result is smooth scrolling, faster gaming, and improved responsiveness.

Crash detection

The iPhone 14 model can detect car crashes with a new acceleration sensor that can detect extreme acceleration and deceleration up to 256G, according to Apple. The new barometers can detect changes in vehicle pressure due to airbag deployment or sudden changes in direction and can recognize accidents even when there is a loud noise. In such situations, the new iPhone will automatically call emergency assistance and inform emergency contacts. We are still deciding on whether this is cool or not.

iPhone 14 Pro Always on Display

It allows the user to see information on the iPhone display at a glance, even when the power is off. So it is always on. Always. Lest we miss a notification. Lord help us.

Photonic engine

A new image pipeline that Apple calls Photonic Engine is driving the overall improvement of the model lineup. The major finding here is that Apple captures raw data from the sensors — four mainframes and a few secondary frames — and then uses Deep Fusion to work on the combination of the data before demos icing, denoising, color correction, and other adjustments. Pretty cool. Pretty…cool.

Emergency SOS

Apple has also added an option “Emergency SOS via satellite” that allows iPhone 14 to connect directly to satellites for communication purposes in emergencies when WiFi or mobile phones are unavailable. Emergency SOS via satellite works in less open places with trees and allows users to send a text to emergency personnel. It is free for two years and can be used in the United States and Canada (so don’t you dare go to Mexico). Satellite connections can also be used to share location information with friends and family on Find My when hiking or camping in remote areas.

Final Thoughts

We are actually somewhat impressed by the new iPhone. If you have a couple of hundred dollars laying around we recommend that you give it a go. What’s the worst that could happen? There’s no way that the battery would still be booty and you would end up carrying your charging cord around like an additional accessory or anything like that. Buy one and tell us what you think.
