Red lion fish also known as Pterios volitans are amoung as one of the most active predators in a reef food chain. They grow to be roughly 12–15 inches they are also venomous that is why it is not recommended to be near them if you are stung by them dying from their sting is rare but it will still be very unpleasant you might experience extreme pain, dizziness, nauseousness, numbness, changes in heart rate and possibly paralysis. If you are stung you can treat the sting by carefully removing the spine with gloves and something small like tweezers try not to press to hard because you might accidentally squeeze the venom glands injecting more venom right after that soak the part of your body in very hot water not on burning level but hot enough that you can tolerate for around 5–10 minutes.
