Why You Need to Learn the “Close Encounter” Hotkey in Epic

I’m a huge fan of less steps to get your work done in Epic. One time saver that goes underutilized is the use of Hotkeys.

Hotkeys are built in shortcuts to common features in Epic. Learning them allows you to ease some of the pain of feeling like you are clicking yourself to death with your mouse. So why aren’t Hotkeys used more often? Like any good habit, they do take some effort to train yourself to use them.

This post is intended to give you an easy and high value place to start with Hotkeys. One thing you have to do with every single encounter when you are done is to close it, right? So, save yourself the time and effort of scrolling to the Close Encounter (or Sign Visit) button just so you can click on it EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU SEE A PATIENT. I think you’ll be surprised how nice it feels to do this.

Here is the shortcut:

Control + Shift + e

When you are ready to close a visit, press the above key combination. I can’t live without this one. It seems like a small amount of effort saved, and it is. But, it’s effort that repeats itself so many times that I guarantee it ads up to meaningful time given back to you.

I hope you’ll consider the value of learning some Hotkeys in Epic to make your life just a little easier.

Best,

Gabe
