Agreed, I’m not expecting the European cross-country train experience yet. I was referring to the short trips that should be no-brainers for train travel, for example, Orlando to Fort Lauderdale. Although I enjoyed the trip because I’m a train nerd, I would be hard-pressed to recommend it to someone who is just looking for the easiest, most econimical way to travel between the two cities. Another example is the routes between the large central/eastern Texas cities (Austin, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio). Driving your own car or taking Megabus is always faster and cheaper, unfortunately.
