How I sold 3000 $ in SexToys in a month at 17 y.o.
Three years ago me and my workmate were testing the first principles we learnt about Growth Hacking.
We were validating the idea of "test and fail quick so you can learn quick".
I don't know what we had in mind, but this experience it's one of the reason why I opened my Growth Hacking company at 19 y.o.
We started fast opening a dropshipping store on Ebay.
The adventure begins, we did a research on the completed listings on Ebay and top sold products on Aliexpress and found 19 products that we could sell.
We copied and pasted the description and we went live.
At this point I want to make a consideration, I never sold anything on Ebay, I had no Idea how to make a product page, what countries to target or how to make a performing description.
In Fact…
😩3 days and nothing happens … then we began to study the platform on which we were trying to sell on and found out that:
“Copy and paste” is not a correct strategy
We needed to change the keywords, graphics and SEO …
Made those changes sales were starting to come, the winning product, among the three, was a set of guitar strings: we sold 20–25 a day on average, but the margin was too low, just over 1.5€ per sale.
We needed to expand.
This time, however, we knew we needed to know the platform where we sold and then, consequently, find the product.
We used Terapeak to find the best selling product with the lowest supply on Ebay and found a specific SEX TOY.
(I will not specify the exact product because it's not appropriate, if you are curious you can DM me on Linkedin)
We also found out which were the countries with the highest demand, so we started doing something specific.
We tested each of the major countries where there was the lowest rate of sexual relationships and countries with the highest rate of hook ups.
We published and the fun part started.
Sales were immediate, and within a week we realized that the location with the most need for our product was Florida.
From here the specific differentiation process started …
We built a complete catalog for every “need” of our target: sales tripled within a month
We sold 93 sex toys for the value of € 2953 and a marginal profit of 50%.

This experience made us open our eyes:
There is a lot of trash on the internet and social media on how to do business, but the things that actually make the difference are:
1. The assumptions of other people do suck as much as yours…
2. If you don’t study where you sell, you 100% FAIL
3. The data and tests are “your best friends”
We brought this culture into our company Hybrida, in which we help corporations to increase their customers's lifetime-value or we give you all money back.
Hope you enjoyed the article, see you next time.
