Day 288/365: It’s great being young still!

26 years ago today, my mom decided it was time for me to get the heck out of her womb and into the world. It was a sunny Thursday. My mom missed the first Michael Jackson concert because she was severely pregnant.

So sorry mom!

I don’t know the exact details of my birth, but mom said I was extremely stubborn and wouldn’t come out under any circumstances. That’s why the doctor decided to do an emergency C-section to get me the heck out.

Luckily, I came out unharmed and so did my mom. My hair was a very bright blonde until age 3 or 4. My parents still keep my very first hair in a paper envelope, which they cut off of my head at age 1. That has “creepy” written all over it, but it’s a family tradition, or so they say.

It looks good still. No, there’s no photo with the hair, sorry. That would be way too creppy even for my very high creepiness standards.

26 years later, I find myself having everything I ever wanted in life. I have a good business that’s growing and growing, a nice house, a car, a beautiful family, great friends and colleagues. I am healthy and I think, although I’m a mess with relationships, I’m not yet a lost hope and I will, one day, find the right person for me. I just know it.

The most important thing is, I am now comfortable with failure and it took me 26 years to learn this. I failed a lot over the last 2 years. This year though, when my age turned 26, was probably the best year of my life on all fronts. I was able to put up my business, construct better relationships with the people around me and, of course, travel my ass off!

26 might be a scary age for some, but for me, it’s just another number. I’m still 11 in my mother’s eyes, 17 or 18 in the eyes of every girl I meet and around 20 in the eyes of any passport control person.

It’s all good. Life at 26 is all good. Honestly! Thank God I can say this.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll board a train and get to somewhere, anywhere, have a nice lunch with some friends and then start this 27th year of my life. It looks promising, at least on the travelling front.

Oh yeah, this next year will be travel-oriented hard!
