Fast Sundays 19: Movies

Day 133/365: People don’t go to the movies not out of commodity, but because of the lack of… movies!

Fast Sundays: Every Sunday, I write a 300 words post on different topics of interest, after starring at the blank laptop screen for 3 minutes. Whatever pops into my mind at the end of the 3 minutes mark, that’s what I’ll scribble below.

The thing is, I don’t mind staying in line to see a new movie at the cinema. That’s why movies first appear on the big screen, rather than on a DVD or on a streaming platform. These are movies, not books that are written and can be enjoyed anywhere. They’re made to be enjoyed on a huge screen, with an appropriate sound system and yes, a few nachos.

The truth is, though, there are so few movies that are worth it to go to the cinema these days, it’s embarrassing. We are living in the Golden Age of Entertainment, and yet for some reason, there’s like one movie a month that sparks me and my dad’s interest. We are the movie-goers in the house.

For example today, we’re going to see the new “Avengers” movie. It’s the first movie this month that sparks our curiosity. And probably the last. The very last movie we saw was “Ready Player One”, which happened a month ago or so. It’s really harsh to only have one movie a month that is at least interesting to see and curious enough to make you want to do the trip to the cinema.

The good thing is, the small theatre in our town is really cosy and mostly empty, so you do get a nice experience. The bad thing is, the lack of promising movies you can see on a weekly basis is serious. Apart from Deadpool 2 and the new kind-of Star Wars film, there’s not much else to see in 2018!

At least the nachos are good…

P.S.: The movie was great. A little too long, but great!

Thank you for your time!
