Fast Sundays 4: 3 Minutes Left

Day 28/365: What’s your life plan, if your life is due in 3 minutes?

Fast Sundays: Every Sunday, I write a 300 words post on different topics of interest, after starring at the blank laptop screen for 3 minutes. Whatever pops into my mind at the end of the 3 minutes mark, that’s what I’ll scribble below.

I just received a phone call that kind of ruined my plans for tonight and there are just 5 minutes left out of the 10 that I usually put out for these Sunday posts. After the 3 minutes that I use to get the idea for them, there are another 10 minutes to actually put words onto the blank document in front of me.

As you might have realised by now, I am in no mood to write today. Yes, I write for a living, but we writers do have our bad days. Everybody has them, regardless of what they do.

“Don’t confuse bad days with weakness. Those are the days you fight your hardest” — Me

Don’t tell me photographers, bankers, doctors, authors, or even travellers don’t have their bad days. They all do, it’s natural and it’s nothing to be embarrassed about.

3 minutes left

You just need to take a step back, get in the car, drive to the nearest coffee shop, get a hot chocolate with cinnamon and milk and then drive back to your workplace and try again.

What to write, what to write… Oh, how about this? What if someone called you right now and told you that you only had 3 minutes left to live? What would you do?

Short tutorial

First, smash your laptop into the nearest wall. You’ll love it, it’s freeing. Second, have a last ice cream scoop, preferably pistachios. Nothing beats pistachios, no other flavour. I’ve tried them all.

Third, call your bank and close your accounts. Banks are so mean, I’m sure my bank would come after me even in my afterlife. After you’re done with the banks, you can go in peace, but if you still have a minute left… maybe Netflix?

P.S.: Funny enough, it takes 3 minutes to make instant ramen…

Thank you for your time!
