How To Enjoy The Little Things

Day 149/365: Sometimes, you don’t know just how big the little things are…

Enjoy going to the movies with your dad. You have a great thing going on between you too, a great bonding opportunity every weekend, and if you look around, that doesn’t come on that easily. Most people have no parents to go to when they need that, so enjoy the time you spend with your loved ones.

Enjoy having a drink or a meal out. It’s a small thing for you, but there are hundreds of millions of people around the world who will never have the chance to eat out at a restaurant. They don’t even have clean water, let alone enough food to be properly fed or medicine to be somewhat healthy.

Enjoy reading and writing. Read as much as you can. Read whatever floats your boat. Read magazines, papers, articles and books. Write as much as you can. Put the words that are in your mind, troubling you, on paper and set them free. Read and write, as they are much more than little things.

Enjoy travel. Get on a train and deboard in a random place. Meet the people. Enjoy your time with them. Enjoy the solitude of the night, watching the stars from your window. Have some lovely breakfast, put on your backpack and then leave. Go to another place, and repeat. Enjoy the experience.

Enjoy the ones around you. Cherish your family, your friends, neighbours, colleagues and everyone else. Say “thank you” more often, leave some tips for the waitresses that serve you, gift some of your clothes to the less fortunate and enjoy being yourself. Enjoy being alive, the greatest gift of all.

Enjoy the little things.

One day, you’ll realise they are actually the big things.

Thank you for your time!
