I Broke My Phone on Saturday..

Day 120/365: I haven’t been this peaceful in forever

Saturday morning, I went to the local supermarket for my weekly groceries shopping. I was as sleepy as I always am. Just that this time I was so sleepy, I dropped my Samsung Galaxy S6 on the pavement in the parking lot. I picked it up and put it back in the pocket, not even bothering to see if it was all right. Spoiler alert: it was not all right.

I went inside the market and started my usual stroll down the aisles. It’s so nice to shop just after the store opens, early in the morning. The produce is fresh, greatly presented on the shelves, and there are literally no other people in the store, but a few.

After a while, I wanted to see how the weather was going to be like later in the day. I took my phone out of the pocket and tried to scan my fingerprint in order to unlock it. I pushed the button and the screen kind of turned into miniature Christmas three, blinking away at me.

“Shit.” — Gabriel Iosa

Three days later, I’m enjoying not having a phone. I am as peaceful as I could ever be because if you don’t know me, I’m a pretty peaceless person. Not having a phone is amazing, and I somehow feel like I needed this phone cleanse for a while now. No Instagram, no email, not even phone calls.

Just me and all of the free time in the world after I’m done with my daily work-related activities. It’s the best thing that could’ve happened to me, and somehow, if it weren’t for the $200 bill for the repair, breaking my phone would’ve been just the perfect event.

Well, what can you do…

P.S.: I have a spare phone now, thanks to my lovely neighbour who gave me her iPhone to at least be able to answer my calls until my phone will be out of the shop. I’m still not going to stay on Messenger or even Instagram on it though, so no photos or Stories this week. I’m enjoying this temporary silence!!
