I Just Dreamed the Plot for My Next Novel

Day 90/365: It has a lot of lightning, secret doors and an abandoned parking lot that is nothing like you’d expect it to be…

I swear on my life, this just happened! It’s 6:30 AM and I just woke up. I’m way too excited to sleep for even 10 more minutes. I would’ve woken up at 7 anyways, but this was no ordinary wake-up call. I just dreamed a detailed version of what I hope will become the plot for my first fantasy novel.

If you’re not aware by now, I’ve already written one novel before, but unfortunately, because of [insert load of crappy excuses here] I wasn’t able to publish it just yet. I will do it this year, it’s on my to-do list for 2018 which, by the way, is doing extremely well 3 months into the year.

Coming back to the dream that I had, I have no idea where it came from. Usually, when you dream, you relate to something that happened to you or you’d wish to have happened in the future. With the dream that I had, none of the two scenarios applies. But damn, it was so vivid, so extremely detailed, so full of action and amazing ideas, I just couldn’t just ignore it.

I immediately opened my laptop and wrote a 3-pages synopsis right away, along with every single important detail that I was able to put on (virtual) paper before it was gone. I now have a complete set of ideas that I just need to expand, a clear storyline and a few of the main characters already sorted.

And I did the groceries for next week and stopped for coffee! How’s that for a productive Saturday, giving the fact that it is now 10:15 AM as I’m finishing the article? I’m getting kind of decent at time management lately.

I will be writing on the novel during the weekends or in days when my overall projects don’t need me to deliver more than 3.000 words. That’s going to be tricky because there’s a lot of work that I need to get done in the following months, but somehow, I’ll manage to do both. I’ll find a way.

It’s astonishing just how much free time you get when you delete Facebook from your phone and just occasionally log in from your laptop…

Thank you for your time!
