I’m Done With New Books

Day 228/365: No more bestsellers for me bruh…

I’ve just spent 8 bucks on a new book that’s crap.

I’m a Psychology student and sincere fan of the subject and I read about this stuff all the time. I’m not much into self-help and development books, because a book on its own can’t help you, but I’m into real, scientific stuff about the mind and body and how the two work together.

Last month, I bought a book on this subject called Mindsight, written by a pretty respected guy with a PhD and all that. Unfortunately, the book was a huge letdown.

There’s nothing in the book except a breathing exercise (really? I just paid 8 bucks for a breathing exercise?) and a few stories of people who came to his practice in order to learn mindsight.

He does explain what mindsight is, and it’s very interesting as a concept, but you’d expect him to play his game right and have it demonstrated and explained in practice in a book. Not just talk about it and then subconsciously invite possible clients to the practice.

I’m all against making a book just to sell another product with it. The product IS the book!

Anyways, I’m done with new books for a while. I’m done with bestsellers. If Dan Brown is done with wiriting for now, I’m done with buying books that have made it on the shelves in the last 10 years.

I’ll stick with my $1 Seneca books, for example, or my $15 bundle of The Lord Of The Ring, which I’m now reading and is proving to be some of the most amazing stories I’ve ever read in my life.
