My 101 Favourite Things, Part 7: paranormal story, games and quote

Day 76/365: What are my absoulte favourites in various domains

A.S.: Starting from Sunday, March 11th, I’m taking a Spring vacation from work and from blogging. This doesn’t mean the 365 days writing challenge is over, but I’ll sort of cheat and still come up with one article per day until Saturday, March 17th, when I’ll be back home. Here’s what I came up with for these next 7 days!

Talking to you guys is one of the best things about this blog. I don’t yet have a big community around it, but the few of you that read and comment around here are great people and I’m glad of having you around.

As for the month of March, as we all agreed to give the blog a “favourites” overall, but not strict topic, I decided to give this Fast Sundays, and the following 6 days of the next week, up for this topic alone.

I’ll do it in batches of 15 questions per day, totalling 105 questions at the end of the week. Without further to do, here are my favourite books, movies, foods and everything else that I thought might be interesting for you to know:

91. My favorite story or experience with the paranormal?

When I was younger, a guy told me about the time he went fishing one night and saw a candle floating on the river. The closer the candle got to him, the more he could feel some sort of coldness and an overall sense of disturbance. When it got right in front of him, the candle transformed into a big bird and just took off from above the water, screaming like a devil. I still get the chills when remembering this story.

92. The one “splurge” grocery item I have never yet splurged on?

Chocolate pudding.

93. The most competent activity I do?

I’m a good writer.

94. The one food item I can never run out of?

Unfortunately, chocolate.

95. The favorite picture I’ve ever taken?

The dome of St. Peters Basilica as seen from the courtyard of the Vatican Museums. I was fortunate enough to get there on a sunny morning when there were just a few clouds in the sky and the light was spot on. I have never taken a better picture since then. See for yourself.

96. The most fun game I’ve ever played?

Mario on an old, 1992 Nintendo console. I got the console from a neighbour and played for the whole summer and then their kid came by and erased all of my saved games. I learned a lot about patience from that experience.

97. The biggest secret I still safeguard? (Don’t reveal it!)

I don’t hold that big of a secret to not be able to reveal it, so none.

98. The hardest I ever laughed in my life was…?

Back in 2008, in my second year of high school, we used to gather at my house and trow the occasional party from time to time. One night, we got a projector and watched “Jane Austen’s Mafia”, a comedy and mockup of the Godfather trilogy. I remember laughing so hard, I broke a blood vessel in my nose and having to put a pack of wipes in my nostril to stop the bleeding. Still one of my favourite comedies ever.

99. My favorite fabric to pet is?

I really don’t have a favourite and I’m not sure I understand the question, so maybe another time.

100. If I could go anywhere, be with anyone, be doing anything, right now: Where? Who? What?

I’d definitely go to Bangkok because it’s been nothing but rainy and cold here and I’m sick of it. I’d take my friend with me because she’s a fan of travel and would love to go to Thailand. We’d be eating pad thai and just enjoying coconut water fresh from a young coconut alongside the pool of our modern but reasonably priced apartment.

101. If I had one hour to live, what would I spend it doing?

Calling my bank to close all of my bank accounts. Banks are mean, I don’t want to live any burdains on my family when I’m gone. Then I’d jump into my car, go to the nearest gas station, order a tea and an ice cream and enjoy.

102. What is your favourite play/musical?

As you’re reading this, I’d have already seen Aladdin on the West End, and after seeing it on the internet in a Disney theatre in California, something tells me it will definitely be my favourite.

103. What is your favourite actor?

I know it sounds weird and minuscule, but I really love Gary Anthony Williams for his role in “Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle” He only makes an appearance in the jail scene, but his lines stood with me from back when I saw the movie for the first time in my childhood. “I’m fat, black, can’t dance, and I have to gay fathers. People have been messing with me my whole life. I’ve learned a long time ago that there’s no need get all rilled up everytime a bunch of idiots give you a hard time. In the end, the Universe tends to unfold as it should. Plus I have a really large penis, that keeps me happy”. He touched me with this one and the way in which he says it makes it simply a brilliant interpretation of the simple secret to life.

104. If you could have a million dollars right now, what would you do first?

Get on a plane and never stop travelling until my money would be gone. It’s a selfish way of spending a huge sum of money, but nevertheless, that’s what I’d do.

105. What is your favourite life quote?

“We are all capable of infinitely more than we believe” — David Blaine

This whole marathon was really like an “Oracle”, a game we used to play years ago in which we’d have to answer questions in someone else’s notebook on different topics, much like the article above. Feel free to answer 2 or 3 or more questions from the list above about yourself, in the comments below.
