Practising Gratitude On Sundays

Day 301/365: Gratitude is no secret, yet so misunderstood

Sundays are perfect days for practising gratitude.

What is gratitude?

Gratitude is when you sit down and think (or write) about what you’re grateful about. Even if you feel like you’re not grateful for anything on a Sunday, because you’re doing nothing, it’s better to think about this than problems, for example. Not that problems are any more real than how much credit you give them.

But that’s for another article. Or book.

Gratitude is rewarding

You’re making your mind think in a healthy way. You are becoming aware of why you’re so lucky to have this and that, to have a family, friends, a good leg, two good ears, a car, some money, clothes and everything else that you own.

It also is good to remember and be grateful for your health. For the health of the people around you. For the well-being of everyone you know. Gratitude is also about remembering those who are not around you anymore and being grateful that they were around, even if that’s over now.

Gratitude is about being honest with yourself and, although that means you will also have to think about the stuff that’s not working, you still remain grateful that you have good health and material possibilities to work on your issues and someday overcome them.

Be grateful for everything that you’ve had, have or will have.

Don’t be angry about the stuff you don’t have, don’t regret the stuff you stopped having and never obsess on the stuff you might not have. Just be grateful for where you are now, be grateful for your past, no matter how it was and also, be grateful for the person you can become in your future.

I’m back to sleeping on the couch and binge-watching Blackish and The Big Bang Theory. I’m 7 episodes away from being on schedule. 7? Whaaat?!
