On Money And Wealth

Day 281/365: How to keep wealthy?

I can honestly say this year has been the richest of my life. Not because I made a ton of money, but because I made enough money to feel rich. Does that make sense? I am not rich, I just had enough money to… to not care about looking at the prices in a restaurant, but just order what I wanted. To be able to go to Pull&Bear (they’re the best, by the way!) and simply choose the clothes I wanted without carrying for the price.

That’s what wealth means to me right now.

Being able to make purchases and not care about the balance in my accounts. That’s what having money means to me. I am not interested in buying expensive houses, cars and planes. I’m just interested in assuring a good wealth for me and my family and having everything that I want back at the house. Money is interesting because the more you spend, the more you want to spend afterwards.

Money is all about balance. If you enjoy splurging away every day, you’re not going to have a good relationship with money. If you, on the other hand, spend money when you need to, even without looking at the prices and enjoying the experience, but just when you have to, then you can enjoy your money in the true sense of the word.

Wealth is not having money that you can’t count. Wealth is keeping up with demand and expenditures. Wealth is being able to afford stuff you like and need, but not overspend on crap you’ll never use just because you have money. Why would I buy a plane if I can fly out with a normal carrier from time to time to wherever I have to go?

Having money and spending money is different. If you have money you’re not spending, you become greedy and can end up with a lot of money in your account and no experiences to write home about. Spending money, on the other hand, can become dangerous if you can’t limit yourself.

The trick is to enjoy money and spend them with care. You made them, so why spend them without care when you put in so much effort into getting them? Yes, buy whatever you want and don’t mind the price. This is what money is for. But never overdo it. It’s as simple as that!
