On True Friendship

Day 231/365: One true friendship is enough

I have but one true friend.

I have good friends, but I have only one friend that knows all of my secrets.

Some of my friends know some of my secrets.

Some of my friends know none of my secrets.

This one friend knows pretty much everything about me. We got together this weekend and spend about a day together. We are big foodies, so it was nice to have dinner with a person who enjoys food as much as I do, as most of the people I’m having dinner with these days just… eat.

It was also nice to catch up and watch a movie, for example. The truth is, we haven’t met in a while. Actually, months have passed until this weekend meetup. And yet, it was like I haven’t seen my friend since just a week ago.

That’s what true friendship means to me.

True friendship is something you feel.

You don’t need to “confirm” it by meeting up every other day with the friend at hand. You don’t even have to speak with the friend on a daily basis. Not even chatting on Instagram or Facebook.

True friendship is seeing your friend after 5 or 6 months from the last time you sit in the same room together, but instantly feel like you belong in their house and feel at your best around them.

Be extremely grateful if you have one true friend in your life.

You don’t need more than one. Appreciate the time you spend together with the friend, even if you see them for one day in the last 3 months or so. If it’s the right type of friendship, it’ll be enough!

Thank you for your time!
