Satisfying The Man In The Mirror

Day 25/365: How do you get over the impossibly perfect self?

Whatever you do in life, there is always one person who wants more from you. Funny thing is, you know that person. In fact, it is so close to you, sometimes you cannot believe you know so little about it.

You’ve been with this person your whole life, from the moment you took your first breath, to this very second, as you read these words.

And yet, not a single day passes without this person getting you, surprising you and making you wonder about the world, the self and everything else.

As I said, this person knows everything you do, is there when you win or fail, when you smile and when you cry, yet, no matter what you do, you are always only one step away from being who this person wants you to be.

He is the biggest critic you have, build deep within you and there’s no way of getting rid of it.

When you learn to make that person happy, that’s when you will be completely happy. Funny thing is, humans can’t and will never be completely happy. Why? Because that person is the reflection of you, the mirrored you, and satisfying yourself to the point of perfect happiness is impossible.

The truth is, you’ll never be able to fully satisfy the man in the mirror.

You should never try to.

But you can aim for the stars. You can do whatever it takes. You can be the best. You can change the world. You can achieve the ultimate goal. You can do it, you can satisfy you, not the perfect version of you, which is more than enough for one life.

So get up that chair and go change whatever you have to change. Enough with the complains, enough with the excuses and enough with the misery. You’ll never truly satisfy that perfect you, but if you want to achieve whatever it is that you want to achieve, you need to start with a change.

Start your change with the man in the mirror.
