Why I Brought A New Phone

Day 212/365: I had but one reason for this purchase!

It’s midsummer.

Everything is sticky, hot and frankly, obnoxious.

Sweat is as common as sunshine and water. It’s everywhere.

There’s almost no work to be done because most people are on vacation. There’s no money, as a result. And yet, in these harsh conditions, I decided to buy a new phone although my last phone works just fine.

I spent 300 and something bucks on a new Huawei P20 Lite phone yesterday, and the only reason for the purchase was, the Samsung Galaxy S6 phone I had used until now had its camera broken and was taking the most blurry, ugly photos in the world.

I’m on Instagram, I can’t do blurry pictures.

I wouldn’t be spending this kind of money on a phone if it weren’t for a good reason, and the truth is, the camera on this phone is everything I need in a phone. I travel quite a lot now and, honestly, carrying a DSLR with me every time I leave the house is tiring.

Instead, I need a phone that I could rely on and that could produce some good quality pictures. The P20 Lite checks all of these boxes and has a good price. This is not a professional review, but here are some pros and cons after the first 24 hours using the device.

Pros:

  • the cameras are excellent, both the front and the back ones;
  • the screen is perfect and also of good size;
  • the phone runs smoothly and hasn’t frozen yet;
  • the apps that come with the phone are not overwhelming the system;
  • the Face Recognition thingy works like a charm;

Cons:

  • it’s a little slippery, but I’m buying a case;
  • the phone makes no french fries.

That’s about it! If you’re looking for a mid-range phone that does everything an expensive phone does, minus the french fries, you should definitely check out the P20 Lite from Huawei.

Don’t go full judgemental into it, thinking Huawei is a mediocre company. You’ll be surprised at what sort of a product you’ll lay your hands on!
