Working In A Starbucks, Living The Dream

Day 248/365: Better than at a coworking space

I’m right now working in a Starbucks. I haven’t done this in a little while, as we don’t have one where I currently live, but as soon as I get the chance, I’ll grab one latte and freelance away with it.

The benefits of working in a Starbucks are great. First of all, you only have to pay for a drink if you want to, which would be about 3 bucks per day. This would sum up to about 50 bucks per month. At the cheapest coworking space in this town, one spot at a shared office is priced at 89 bucks per month.

I get everything I need here, from power outlets, comfortable seats, good lighting, spacious environment, nice, soft music, good people who engage in small talk and a clean bathroom. I get everything that I’d get at the coworking space, minus the monthly fee.

Yes, you can argue that the Starbucks drinks that I’ll consume each day are a tad expensive, but they’re not as expensive as the monthly fee and with Starbucks I can move in and out as much as I want. I don’t feel like I’m at the office, but just in a coffee shop, enjoying a hot brew while I do some work.

It’s not even lunch yet and I’m just finishing up for the day. Well, I’ll be 85% ready for the day once I’ll leave for lunch. Which is great for productivity as I’d be just around 50% to 70% done at noon if I were to go to my usual shared office.

It’s noon now, and a big portion of pad thai awaits at the little Asian place down the street. See you tomorrow!
