You CAN Eat Healthy At KFC

Day 256/365: It’s all about what you order

I don’t know about you, but my Thursdays are always extremely busy. I don’t plan for this to happen, this just comes to be almost every Thursday for months now. Today, I have about 11 tasks and I had to take the train to another city to drop an invoice and so on.

Sometimes, I crack. We all do. But when I crack, I don’t do drugs or alcohol. I don’t go for crazy car rides to scare the village people. When I feel like I’m overwhelmed by tasks and activities, I go to KFC.

Sure, judge me. “He’s eating his way out of his bad day!” Yes, I am eating my way out of my bad day. I prefer this over drugs, alcohol, medication, beating up someone, piling stuff up and so on, to be honest. What, do those sound familiar? Then maybe you should stop hating, brother. And truthfuly, you can eat heathy even at a KFC, if you really want to.

An original recipe piece has around 220 calories. If you get that, two wings and a coleslaw, you’re looking at around 500 to 600 calories for your lunch. This is not bad, to be honest. A good burger has 500 calories. A portion of pasta with rich, cream sauce goes way beyond that.

Regardless if you’re eating at a fast food place or a fancy restaurant, it’s all about your choice on what you end up having. I could’ve gone for one of them menus with a load of greasy fries, extra crispy chicken that’s more breading than actual chicken and a huge thing of Coke.

Instead, I opted for the healthier version of the meal, eliminating the starch and having a cool salad instead while keeping things as low-calorie as possible and going for the original recipe, which was extremely good, instead of the extra cripsy, extra sauced, extra spiced variety.

I’m now working at my favourite Starbucks. So far, I’m having nothing here. I’ll probably get a small tea or something, if the sweet ladies at the register will start giving me the evil eye. They usually have no business with us freelancers, so let’s hope today turns out the same.

So yes, choices. Life is all about choices. Do your homework and act well.
