YES! I appreciate the message of this essay so very much. Predation, bullying, manipulation know no gender. Yet, within the cultural context, they do become shaped and defined by gender norms. When women are asked to describe what is said and done to manipulate them, the language or messaging can sound trivial and absurd. Brendan Fraser’s experience reminds me of the cultural isolation created by sexual harassment. We do it to ourselves even, mocking our own hurt feelings, fear and shame.
