Hot Off the Wire

Today — while perusing the freezer shelves and bunkers at Woodman’s grocery store, searching for new and exciting ice cream flavors to bring home, I tripped across a tried and true — oldie, but goodie.
What was it you ask?
Vanilla? Chocolate? Maple Nut? Neapolitan?
No ladies and gentlemen!
It was good ole’ chocolate chip!Prairie Farms, an Illinois based company, that also transforms simple milk from dairy cows into cheese, yogurt, sour cream, cottage cheese and sundae cones, still manufactures plain ole’ chocolate chip ice cream.
Why is this important you ask?
It’s a bit of a mystery.
I remember a story in which the author was searching high and low for vanilla ice cream enhanced with cone shaped bits of chocolate. Do you — remember, too?
Said author has escaped connection in my mind to the dessert of champions — ice cream.
He or she was very specific.
No chunks. No caramel. No mint! Just vanilla ice cream dotted with chocolate chips.
If you know this author — or especially if you are this author — I’ve found your guilty pleasure.
If only I could find you!
I myself, did not buy your favorite, opting instead for salted caramel and vanilla with, gulp, gummy bear pieces.
If you will show yourself — I can send you some, packed in dry ice.
