Hi Anna — I have had a winding path with yoga, too. My first teacher hooked me to the practice.:) She taught philosophy along with poses. Unfortunately, her life led her to close her business and move on.

For years after, I attended classes with instructors who were more interested in fitness than yoga. Although the phrase “let go of competition”, was often said — it was not felt — by me or most others in the classes I suspect.

Then, quite by accident, I happened upon a different studio — a different teacher, who teaches the seven limbs beyond asana. As a result, I am growing in all of the right ways — even in asana. I consider that a happy side effect.

Thanks for the story!
