I have been avoiding puddles most of my life because I am very risk-averse.
This is a very good question.

I avoid them because I’ve been rewarded my entire life for following the rules. Aren’t we almost always advised to go around the puddles?

“This is the way to do it,” somebody in authority said. So, that’s the way I did it. Oftentimes, I was rewarded with praise for being “good”.

Of course, there have to be rules in society and it is important that they are followed, but — what if sometimes we encouraged thinking and risk-taking?

Thanks for your heart felt response Charlotte.
