El Mencho is one of the most wanted drug lords in Mexico with a $10 million bounty on his head.

Rubén Oseguera Cervantes aka El Mencho and his wife Rosalinda González Valencia have managed to stay under the radar for a long time. One of the most sought after drug lords in the world, and the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), he has managed to elude the authorities for years.

The U.S. Department of Justice currently offers a $10 million reward for information leading to his arrest. According to the latest news updates, the Mexican authorities are closing in on him. In August, a gunfight erupted in the small town of San Julian, Jalisco after a police unit ran into his bodyguards.

His henchmen reportedly used 50 caliber guns, grenade launchers, and artillery mounted on vehicles to overwhelm authorities, allowing the CJNG leader to escape. Half a dozen military helicopters carrying special forces landed in the area to advance the search for the wanted drug dealer.

His Wife Rosalinda González Valencia

Rosalinda González Valencia is the wife of El Mencho. Together, they have three kids; Laisha, and Rubén Oseguera González (“El Menchito), and Jessica Johana.

She filed for protection against prosecution as his spouse in 2017. The filing was successful. It stated that she could not be prosecuted unless criminal charges were brought against her. That said, she was arrested in May after being accused of managing his cartel’s finances.

His Net Worth, How He Has Managed to Elude the Authorities for so Long

El Mencho is believed to have a net worth of about $1 billion, while his cartel is believed to have assets worth about $20 billion. This is according to a report compiled by Insight Crime. On why he has remained so elusive, he is believed to be highly intelligent and cunning, always avoiding the use of technology for communication and using his own men instead, as emissaries.

His men are also allegedly trained to cause large-scale disruption of transport systems once a raid by the authorities is underway by blocking them with burning obstacles. In 2015, they downed a police helicopter to help him escape.
