Be Kind

Today I’ve been consumed into the social media world of trolling. Not on me, but reading about trolling that a so-called social media influencer has been doing on other influencers, using a pseudonym on the shameful ‘tattler’ website. This person has been caught out and social media has gone wild on it. Any social media marketers out there will know what I’m on about!
This, along with the fact that next week is anti-bullying week, got me thinking. Why do people think its okay to troll others online? Its bullying, its not clever and its vindictive; and not enough is being done about it. Websites like tattler should be shut down — it encourages trolling and unacceptable behaviour. I bet most of the people making these vindictive comments wouldn’t be brave enough to do it face to face, but why do they think its okay to hide behind a screen and an unknown identity? Cowards!
Next week is anti-bullying week and thousands of schools across the country will be taking part in Odd Sock Day on 12th, and other activities throughout the week. Let’s teach our children the right behaviour, whether its online or face to face and lead by example too.
Reward Kindness
On the subject of kindness, I came across a lovely comment on Linked In — see screenshot below. Let’s be more like this person! What a lovely idea!

Don’t Expect Something For Nothing
It’s a great idea to reward kindness like the person above did and this type of kindness will be a great message to spread on your social media. However, don’t be like this “influencer” and expect that just because you have 11,000 followers and enjoyed a meal at a restaurant, that you should get it for free, in return for a good review! Be kind, if you have a great experience, then shout out about it, but don’t expect in return you won’t have to pay! I had to laugh reading this one on the Man Behaving Dadly facebook page!!

In the spirit of anti-bullying and Be Kind campaign, it would be great to hear some positive stories from you where you’ve seen kindness play out online. Let’s swamp anti-bullying week with lot’s of positive messages and I look forward to what you have to say!
