Japandi Style Kitchen Ideas and Stones for Your Kitchen

KITCHEN
Japandi Style Kitchen:

Japandi Style kitchens are a relatively new trend, but they already have a lot of staying power. It’s both functional and stylish, with everything you need and nothing you don’t.

Japandi (or Scandinese) kitchens combine Japanese and Scandinavian design elements. This trend takes influences (and the best bits) from both design styles and combines them to create the perfect balance of form and function.

Elements of Nature

Bringing the outdoors is a core component in Japandi design. This could include using natural materials for your cabinets, such as wood, or accessorising with plants to help bring a little bit of nature inside. Natural accents, whether large or small, are the way to go.

Minimal

A Japandi Style kitchen is all about keeping things simple. The design is simple and straightforward, with intentional and functional elements. You don’t want cluttered or messy spaces, but you also don’t want an empty white box. It’s all about being thoughtful about which items and colours you introduce. Everything must serve a function. However, it does not have to be purely functional. It could also be for aesthetic reasons. This could be an item or colour that brings you joy or calm when you see it on a daily basis.

Contrast

Light and dark, modern and traditional. This adds visual interest to your space without crowding it. Just keep in mind the contrast you’re creating. There is a significant distinction between contrast and clashing!

Texture

The texture is essential in a Japandi-style kitchen, so don’t be afraid to incorporate it into your walls, worktops, or wares. Simply be mindful of how and when you combine textures. You can definitely have too much of a good thing, just like you can have too much of a bad thing!

Choosing a Worktop for Your Japandi-Inspired Kitchen

Natural textures and neutral colours occupy this interior design. We’ve highlighted some surfaces from our granite and marble collections here, each of which brings the depth and richness of natural stone and marble. We’ve also chosen cool cement for the irresistible appeal of cool, misty grey tones, and aspen ice for a more minimal, clean white kitchen surface.

Japandi values quality craftsmanship over quick furniture. It’s about choosing quality materials that will stand the test of time, bringing joy and being treasured for years to come. Each surface is then finished by hand to ensure the highest quality finish that will last and be cherished in the heart of your home for decades to come.

Japandi Kitchen Design Ideas and How to Get These Cool Looks

Mindset of the Mid-Century Modern

Mid-century modern design complements Japandi-style kitchens perfectly. Using dark wood cabinets, light worktops, and vintage elements adds richness to the space without crowding it. A large quartz island adds a striking contrast to the room.

All Over Blue, Brown, and Grey

This stunning kitchen combines natural worktops and dark wood with a surprising splash of blue for the base cabinet run. Statement pendant lights bring this otherwise rustic kitchen into the modern era.

Small and Calming

Good things do come in small packages, as this kitchen demonstrates. This kitchen’s minimalist style with maximum functionality uses light wood and an open shelf to keep the space from feeling uncomfortable. This is another of my personal favourites!

Dreaming of White

Straight lines and white walls may appear clinical, but the stunning oak base cabinets add warmth. Small details, such as the variety of white bowls, add a fantastical touch to this otherwise blank canvas. Want to get it even hotter? Plants can be added for a splash of green.

Family Friendly

Just because Japandi-style kitchens are fashionable does not deny them from being family-friendly. This kitchen is ideal for a family home, with plenty of cabinet space and a highly functional layout.

Texture and Contrast

This kitchen’s use of different cabinets and textures is fantastic. The subtle lines on the main cabinets complement the rustic finish on the island cabinets beautifully. The clean white worktop keeps the space from being overwhelmed by these other elements, maintaining the kitchen’s minimalist style.
