Introduction

What is the Galaxy DroidZ?

Galaxy DroidZ is a an exclusive NFT collection available only on Ultra’s Uniq Marketplace. The collection consists of 767 unique DroidZ across 8 distinct classes, with each droid assigned a rarity level representing both their unique artistic variations as well as utility within the Ultra ecosystem. Created by two of Ultra’s longest serving community members, the Galaxy DroidZ were envisioned as collectors items for Ultra’s earliest adopters and as a way to strengthen the Ultra Community and foster greater evangelism of the Ultra platform as it aims to disrupt the gaming industry.

Who are we?

We are both long-term Ultra supporters and lifelong gamers. Michael is a visual effects artist, living in New Zealand and Kris is a doctor, based in Australia.

Why this project?

As keen gamers and advocates of the gaming Web3 space, this project was a natural progression for us to express our inherent nerdy sides. We thought it would be cool to design a series of unique space-based droids for use as avatars on Ultra and other platforms. The project is also our way of expanding our support for Ultra by not only producing quality content for the platform but using it as a means to fund initiatives aimed at increasing exposure and adoption of Ultra.

This project has been in development for well over a year at time of writing. Each different class of droid and every aspect of each design is our own and a result of a lot of trial and error. Since then, we have spent many hundreds of hours making individual adjustments and variations to every single Droid we have produced. Every design, weapon, colour scheme and variation you see is produced by us and not by any randomly generating software 😊.

Collection Breakdown

The full Galaxy DroidZ collection can be broken down into three main categories. The first category is the bulk of the collection known as the “Base DroidZ”, which consists of the DroidZ against coloured backgrounds based on their rarity level(we will talk about rarity in a minute). Base DroidZ represent around 50% of the collection.

The second category is what we call “Themed DroidZ”, which are the same 8 DroidZ in visually distinct styles and themes, representing around 40% of the collection. These could be anything from elemental themes, Vintage, and fun Trading card game themes. The purpose of the themed DroidZ is to broaden the aesthetic style of the collection so that we have a lot of different looks that cater to different tastes. Something for everyone!

The final category is what we call “Special DroidZ”, these are one of a kind DroidZ with completely unique design elements. Making up less than 10% of the collection, these will be among the rarest of DroidZ and could be anything from a French Legionnaire Soldier Droid to a Kurosawa style Samurai. Some of these will be put up for sale on Ultra’s Launchpad, but most will be given away in lotteries and other special event giveaways 😊.

Drop schedule:

The full Galaxy DroidZ collection will be released over time through a series of scheduled drops as well as through lotteries for holders, giveaways and special events.

For each drop, the DroidZ will be put up on Ultra’s Uniq Marketplace Launchpad and will be able to be purchased directly, i.e. you choose the Droid you want to buy (before someone else buys it). There is no random Minting since that functionality isn’t enabled yet.

The breakdown for the drops will be as follows:

Roughly ~120 UNIQs of the collection will be released to coincide with the long awaited public launch of Ultra’s Uniq Marketplace on August 29th 🎉.

Following the launch we will do scheduled bi-weekly drops of ~70 UNIQs (every two weeks), for 12 weeks (7 additional drops totaling ~500 UNIQs). This is in part to ensure people have multiple chances to secure a Galaxy Droid.

Around ~100 UNIQs will be left in reserve for us to use for lotteries, giveaways, special events and other cool things.

The exact dates and times of the subsequent drops are to be announced, however rest assured there will be plenty of warning.

Rarity Levels

Across the collection there are 6 levels of rarity and they are as follows, from most common to most rare; Uncommon, Rare, Super-rare, Ultra-Rare, Legendary, Animated.

Generally speaking, the more rare the Droid, the more unique design features it will have and the more exclusive perks it will entitle its owners to.

A DroidZ rarity level can always be found in the Uniq’s description on the marketplace, however it can also be discerned by certain visual cues.

Rarity levels of DroidZ from the base collection can easily be discerned by the colour of their backgrounds.

  • Uncommon : Grey/desaturated backgrounds
  • Rare: Blue backgrounds
  • Super-Rare : Green backgrounds
  • Ultra-Rare: Purple backgrounds
  • Legendary : Gold backgrounds
  • Animated: Red backgrounds

Themed DroidZ do not use the same system of coloured backgrounds however their rarity level can also be discerned by certain colour/design elements, though it changes from theme to theme.

Special DroidZ are always either Legendary or Animated tier of rarity, meaning not only are they completely distinct designs, but they have full utility.

Utility

‘Utility’ is a word that has grown (or lost) in meaning in the NFT space, and as such we have taken a more grounded approach as to what we can provide without teasing imaginary things 😅. We are lucky enough to have an ongoing relationship with the team at Ultra, and as such our utility is split into some things we will provide, and some which Ultra have the ability to provide. The level of Ultra provided utility is determined by the rarity level of the Droid.

Utility Provided by Galaxy DroidZ:

Galactic Power

In addition to Ultra platform rewards, owners of Galaxy DroidZ (and Alpha DroidZ), will also hold Galactic Power that will entitle them to a host of Galaxy DroidZ community perks.

Galactic Power (GP) is a mysterious energy field that radiates from the Droidz and it’s the resource that powers all the community based rewards/perks for Droid holders, entitling them to discord access, automatic entry into lotteries, voting rights, and more.

Each and every Droid has a certain GP level rating from 1 to 35, based on its rarity level. A Droid holder’s Galactic Power rating is the accumulated power level rating of all the DroidZ held in their account. For example; if CryptoBro owns 1 Rare assassin (GP: 15), 1 Ultra-Rare Barbarian (GP: 25), and 1 Animated Samurai (GP: 35), he would have a combined GP of 75.

Weekly snapshots will be taken of the Ultra Blockchain to determine each user’s GP and any lotteries or community votes will use the most recent snapshot to determine the pool of potential lottery winners and vote strength of each voter.

Basically, the more DroidZ you own, the more GP you have and the greater chance you have of winning community lotteries, and the more say you have regarding allocation of Warchest funds in developer/game giveaways (more on this soon).

The amount of GP per Droid level are as follows:

  • Soldier Alpha Droid: 1 GP
  • Samurai Alpha Droid: 2 GP
  • Ninja Alpha Droid: 3 GP
  • Heavy Alpha Droid: 4 GP
  • Barbarian Alpha Droid: 5 GP
  • Uncommon Galaxy Droid: 10 GP
  • Rare Galaxy Droid: 15 GP
  • Super-Rare Galaxy Droid: 20 GP
  • Ultra-Rare Galaxy Droid: 25 GP
  • Legendary Galaxy Droid: 30 GP
  • Animated Galaxy Droid: 35 GP

Mathematicians may notice there is a slight diminishing return on price to GP ratio. This is by design in order to mitigate the rich getting (too much) richer.

What does Galactic Power get me??

GP entitles Droid holders to the following benefits:

  • Exclusive Access to the Galaxy DroidZ discord server.
  • Automatic entry into all Galaxy DroidZ community lotteries.
  • Voting Rights for all Galaxy DroidZ Community votes

Discord:

DroidZ holders will receive an invite link to the Galaxy DroidZ discord server via email once it opens.

Lotteries:

We will be hosting regular lotteries for DroidZ holders. These will be distinct from giveaways in that they will require zero effort on your part (assuming you own a droid). All Alpha DroidZ and Galaxy DroidZ holders are automatically entered into all lotteries. Your chances of winning a lottery are determined by your GP. You can think of 1 GP as 1 lottery ticket. So in the above example, CryptoBro who has 75 GP would have 75 lottery tickets.

Many of the DroidZ we give away will be ‘Special’ DroidZ, which are legendary tier and above, which means they will have the maximum amount of Utility, as well as being completely unique in their design. This Kurosawa themed Samurai will be the first of many Special DroidZ that we will be giving away through the lotteries.

Kurosawa Mode

When the lotteries will begin and how frequently they will be held is yet to be decided (maybe weekly or twice weekly), we may wait until after the first few drops so more people have a chance to secure a Galaxy Droid first.

Voting:

As part of our efforts to build awareness and increase adoption of Ultra, we will be doing various contests and other initiatives, funded by the Galaxy DroidZ Warchest. For many of these we will seek the input of the Galaxy DroidZ community, for example selecting winners in a contest. In the context of voting, a holder’s GP essentially represents the weight of their vote. The voting process will be described more fully at a later date.

Giveaways:

As the people who ran the original Ultra Community (Unofficial) twitter account, before we turned it into the Galaxy DroidZ twitter account😝 , we have plenty of experience hosting giveaways for the Ultra community. We will be continuing this tradition with the Galaxy DroidZ account, so keep an eye on our social media accounts after the 29th of August for opportunities to win UOS, games, rare DroidZ and other prizes. The prizes will be funded by the Galaxy DroidZ Warchest.

The Galaxy DroidZ Warchest:

Part of our mission for Galaxy DroidZ has always been to help strengthen the Ultra community as well as build awareness and adoption of the Ultra platform. The Galaxy DroidZ will in part be funding these efforts through the Galaxy DroidZ Warchest. 15% of all primary sales of Galaxy DroidZ goes into the Galaxy DroidZ Warchest. The Warchest will be used for two primary purposes. First, to fund various contests and giveaways to reward and give back to the Galaxy DroidZ community. Second, to fund various contests and initiatives that build awareness and exposure for the Ultra platform.

As lifelong gamers, we are big proponents and supporters of the indie game dev scene and believe that a successful indie game on Ultra could be a major catalyst for early adoption of the platform.

As such, a significant % of the Warchest funds will go towards giveaways and contests for indie game devs that are in need of development funds and are open to releasing their games on the Ultra platform. How exactly this will function, and what arrangement we will have with the winners of funds is yet to be determined, but we will work with the Ultra team to try to formalise something.

The use of the Warchest funds will be at our discretion within the boundaries and for the purposes that we have laid out, though we will from time to time seek input from the community. The funds in the Warchest will be kept as UOS in the designated address and only sold or transferred to award prizes and other such Warchest related activities.

Galaxy DroidZ Collectors Uniqs

With 8 distinct classes, we know it’s going to be difficult to choose only 1. Maybe you want to own all 8? We want to reward all the Galaxy DroidZ collectors out there with limited edition collectors UNIQs. These will be very different in design to the individual DroidZ Uniqs, and so they will be outside of the 767.

The designs, quantites, and eligibility requirements of the collectors Uniqs will be unveiled over time so there’s plenty of time to get your collections going. The plan at this stage is to do multiple tiers of collectors Uniqs to reward different types of collections. And, Yes! The Alpha DroidZ will count towards some of the collections 😊.

Accessibility, Pricing and Drop Strategy:

The vision for Galaxy DroidZ was always that of a very limited and exclusive collection for Ultra’s early adopters. As such, we always wanted the DroidZ to be accessible to all of Ultra’s early supporters and hence price them cheaply. Because they are so limited in quantity (and look so good), something that was high on our list of concerns from the outset of the project was the prospect of some opportunistic community members purchasing large quantities of cheap DroidZ and then immediately relisting them at massively inflated prices on the marketplace (since each Droid is a 1/1 from its own token factory, there is currently no way to put a limit on the number of DroidZ purchased per account). We believed this would have been a worst of all worlds scenario for us, but especially for DroidZ fans.

We discussed various strategies around the pricing and release of the Galaxy DroidZ with the Ultra team and other community members and ultimately settled on a pricing model that is accessible at the lower tiers (the majority of the collection is $100-$175), with more of a premium price at higher tiers, and we decided to release the DroidZ over multiple drops, instead of all at once. We believe this strategy will have several benefits:

  • It maximises the opportunity for everyone to get their hands on a Droid.
  • It reduces the likelihood of people mass buying and flipping them for large profit.
  • It puts money in our pocket instead of scalpers, allowing us to recoup our costs and potentially expand the Galaxy DroidZ universe.
  • It puts more money into the Warchest to give back to DroidZ holders and host contests and other initiatives to bring more awareness to Ultra.

The project has also come a long way design wise, with us significantly increasing the uniqueness and variety of designs, far beyond what was originally planned. The pricing reflects, in no small part, the enormous amount of time and effort that has gone into hand crafting the DroidZ, and we hope that’s evident for all to see in the final product :).

Finally, as part of our efforts to spread the DroidZ around, we have reserved a large number of them (100+) for giveaways and lotteries, so there will be an abundance of opportunities to win Galaxy DroidZ over the weeks and months after launch 😊.

Alpha DroidZ Raffle update:

It’s almost time to draw the winners of the Alpha DroidZ raffles! We will be conducting the snapshot on the 29th of August at 12pm UTC (so you have a few days to make some last minute trades). After the snapshot, please give us 48 hours to crunch the numbers and draw the winners. We will be announcing the winners on twitter and Ultra will contact them via email.

As we communicated before the Alpha DroidZ launch, any DroidZ holders that collects all 10 Alpha Droidz but does not win any of the raffle prizes, will be eligible to purchase a Galaxy Droid directly from us at a 50% discount. Ultra will help us contact these eligible holders by email to let them know which DroidZ will be available for purchase.

FAQ

1) Is there any utility for Alpha DroidZ after the raffles?

Yes! As we have also communicated, we will include the Alpha DroidZ in all of our planned utility through our Galactic Power system. All Alpha DroidZ will contribute to holders Galactic Power rating, which is the resource that drives all Galaxy DroidZ utility. This means Alpha DroidZ holders get access to our discord, can vote on community initiatives, and best of all, are automatically entered in to all lotteries where they could win Legendary tier Galaxy DroidZ, among other prizes.

In addition to that, in time we will be releasing special collectors Uniqs, as rewards for DroidZ holders that collect different combinations of DroidZ. Alpha DroidZ will be included in this and count towards people’s collections.

Please read the sections on Galactic Power, and Collections for more information.

2) Where can I get a Galaxy Droid?

There will be a few different ways you can get your hands on a Galaxy Droid.

  • Ultra’s UNIQ Launchpad: The fastest and easiest way to get a Galaxy Droid is to buy one when they drop on Ultra’s UNIQ launchpad in multiple stages starting August 29th. Ultra’s marketplace allows purchases via credit card or UOS (Ultra’s native token).
  • Ultra’s Marketplace: If the Galaxy DroidZ are sold out on the launchpad, there will likely be many for sale on Ultra’s secondary marketplace. Purchases via the secondary marketplace are only available in UOS.
  • Lotteries: There will be regular lotteries whereby we give away rare and exclusive Galaxy DroidZ to our holders through our Galactic Power system. To be eligible for the lottery you need only to be holding a Galaxy Droid or Alpha Droid in your account at one of the scheduled snapshots. Read more about the lotteries here
  • Giveaways: Over the weeks and months post launch we will be having many special events and giveaways of Galaxy Droidz, so follow our social media channels to not miss any of these events. More on giveaways below.

3) Will you have a discord?

Yes we will! It will be open to all Alpha and Galaxy DroidZ holders and will be used to coordinate voting, lottery winners and other community-related events. We want to foster an inclusive community, so if you sell your Droid, you will not be booted from the discord, though you will lose the chance at winning a lottery as well as voting rights.

4) Will Galaxy DroidZ be incorporated into a game?

There are currently no plans for Galaxy DroidZ to be incorporated in to any game.

5) How will you use the Warchest funds?

The Warchest will have two primary purposes. To fund giveaways for DroidZ holders, and fund contests and initiatives to bring exposure and adoption to Ultra. Use of the Warchest funds will be 100% at our discretion within the boundaries and for the purposes that we laid out above. The Warchest will stay in UOS until it is required to be sold or transferred as part of the Warchest activities.

Warchest wallet ID: aa1aa2af3oa4

6) What happens when the Warchest runs out?

Game over! Obviously once the Warchest is depleted, the Warchest related funding and activities will end. It is our hope that we can foster a community with an ongoing interest in gaming, which may provide additional avenues to support creativity within this space and evangelism of the Ultra Platform.

7) Will there be a season 2 of the Galaxy DroidZ?

There’s no plan yet to do anything beyond what we are doing. However if the project is very successful we will obviously look at how we can expand the Galaxy DroidZ universe into other areas. As both of us have full time jobs that would be a distant prospect at this stage 😢.

8) How will Lottery winners be notified?

Winners of Galaxy DroidZ lotteries will be announced on our discord and social media and then contacted via email by Ultra. Because we don’t want to send rare and valuable DroidZ to abandoned accounts, we will require the winner to accept the prize by responding to the email. We will allow a reasonable amount of time for the Winner to accept their prize, and if they don’t the prize will be added to the following lottery 🚀🚀

That’s all for now. Thanks very much for reading, if there are any questions we didn’t answer, feel free to reach out to us on Twitter. We would also like to thank all the Alpha DroidZ holders for their support! 🙏🙏🙏
