Five months when I made the decision, 6 1/2 when I actually started my job. It was definitely hard, but I told myself that if I was looking for a new job, I’d do it as *me*. I didn’t want to get hired anywhere that wouldn’t be ok with me once I was out.

I really didn’t expect to be hired, honestly. I assumed they’d see me and the interview would be over. But alas, they talked to me. Here’s a picture of me the day before I started my job, in case it helps provide context.

It portrays me in a far more flattering light than was the reality.
