Amazon Lumberyard
Just a few days ago Amazon jumped right in to the serious game development scene competing against the already established Unity 3D and Unreal Engine. Rumour has it that Amazon bought in to Crytek’s game engine, saving them from bankruptcy and letting Amazon getting their hands on an already well-polished tool.
Amazon packaged the tool together with their cloud services and Twitch as a way to introducing a richer package than their competitors. According to IDG they also release GameLift that is supposed to integrate multiplayer functions in a easy ways to the games created with lumberyard.
“Deploy and scale session-based multiplayer games in the cloud in minutes, with no upfront costs.”
All of this is pretty exciting for our project since it really sets us right in to the heat of these game-dev-giants boxing ring — making our work even more relevant and hopefully somewhay useful for others.
