The Gemini

Sometimes, the simplest thing will set you off. It will make a mess out of you for apparently no reason at all. You’ll wake up feeling good about yourself and expecting a normal day — maybe even an exciting one — and then something goes terribly wrong, or just a little bit wrong, and you lose your mind.

I’m a Gemini. I don’t think this defines me at all, but I’m also one of those people who say this and then say “if zodiac signs were to mean something, I couldn’t be anything other than a Gemini”. Which says a lot about my beliefs. Anyway, Gemini are usually associated with two different sides, multiple personality traits and characteristics. We can go from happy to sad in a matter of seconds. Our indecisiveness and inconsistency are probably our most negative traits, along with lack of focus, superficialness and nervousness. This also says a lot about me, even if I’m saying I’m superficial — because I often am. The rest makes perfect sense, too. It’s shown in how this article starts.

Our positive traits can easily turn into negative ones. Being very fond of communication can get us into serious conflicts if we’re nervous. Being considered intellectual can get a Gemini into disturbing arguments with just about anyone. I once argued with a guy about why my favorite place in the world was way better than his, and then almost punched him — and I was only half joking in the beginning. Being enthusiastic and inconsistent at the same time can make me want to annoy the heck out of all my friends and then get extremely grumpy if they don’t cooperate. Another “positive” trait is being versatile and constantly multi-task. Apparently, we’re one of those signs that get to read a book, watch TV, listen to music and have a conversation at the same time. This proves very unsettling, because one of our negative traits is “lack of focus”. I thought I was the only one who could do all that, and then I dated another Gemini. I only dated one in my entire dating history and it was by far the most interesting experience I had. I’m using the word “interesting” because I can’t choose between “disturbing”, “eventful”, “insane”, “exciting” or “constantly heartbreaking”. This person shared all these traits with me, and then some. There wasn’t a single boring day in our relationship, and if there were, it would make for a great argument.

We’re also very fond of laughter, making people laugh. We’re considered “witty”. You can see why this can collide with our superficial selves. If we’re to say a joke, we always expect people to get it and appreciate it, like we’re doing them a favor. This zodiac sign basically says everyone born between May 22 and June 21 is a complete asshole. It doesn’t make it any less true that all this strangely applies to me and I still get to have friends and a family who like me, along with year-lasting relationships and very, very short ones. (I once dated a person for exactly 6 days. Then I got bored.)

It also means I have good days and bad days, just like anybody else. Usually, though, it’s way more upsetting when you know yourself enough to know that waking up in a good mood doesn’t mean anything. Who knows if one day you’ll get up — on your birthday —, look at your phone and find that you don’t have a text message you hoped someone would send you. That’s all it takes to ruin your day in a heartbeat.
